One Direction are continuing to exert their dominance over MTV's Hottest Summer Superstar poll.

The broadcaster is currently asking fans to vote via Twitter for who they think is the top music act of the summer.

One Direction, who have lead the poll since its inception, are still reigning over the likes of Justin Bieber and 5 Seconds of Summer.

At the time of writing, they have over 43 million tweets in total.

Bieber is second with nearly 37 million votes, whilst Lady Gaga has just over 15.1 million.

Other names in the mix include Lana Del Rey (13.3 million) and Rihanna (11.2 million).

The poll will close on August 27 and the results will be announced on August 30.
