Niall Horan has expressed his embarrassment over falling down onstage at One Direction's latest live show.

Niall and his ‘You & I’ band mates played the Gillette stadium in Massachusetts last night (August 8) as part of their Where We Are world tour.

The show went smoothly until it came to the band making their exit from the stage.

After grabbing a large inflatable banana from a fan in the crowd, Horan placed the artificial fruit between his legs and tried to trot across the stage before falling over.

Following his mishap the Irish star tweeted:

“Boston that was insane! Thank you! Had the most embarrassing [sic] thing happen on stage! I'm sure you'll see it.”

Niall later labelled the gaff an: “Inflatable banana epic fail!”
