Liam Payne has spoken of his desire to keep One Direction going for years.

The band formed from five solo contestants on the 2010 series of the UK X Factor and they have gone on to achieve worldwide fame.

However, they are often dogged with speculation about their longevity and whether some members might go solo.

Speaking on Twitter after their Teen Choice Awards domination on Sunday (August 10), One Direction's Liam Payne stated that he wants to the group to last "forever".

The singer said: "Thank you is much literally amazing you guys are just taking over so shocked thank you. I hope we can keep this going forever for you guys."

One Direction won awards at the Teen Choice event in every category they were nominated in.
