One Direction are still leading this year's MTV's Hottest Summer Superstar poll.

The broadcaster is currently asking fans to vote via Twitter for who they think is the top music act of the summer.

One Direction, who have lead the poll since it opened, are still reigning over the likes of Justin Bieber and 5 Seconds of Summer.

At the time of writing, they have nearly 48 million tweets in total.

Bieber is second with over 40 million votes, whilst Lady Gaga has almost 18 million.

Other names in the mix include Lana Del Rey (17.5 million) and 5 Seconds of Summer (16.8 million).

The poll meanwhile will close on August 27 and the results will be announced on August 30.
