One Direction singer Liam Payne has taken part in the ALS charity ice bucket challenge.

A number of celebrities have filmed themselves being dunked in a bucket of ice or icy water to raise awareness for neurodegenerative illness ALS.

Stars like Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber have all undertook the challenge, with the general public also getting in on the craze too.

One Direction's Payne has now joined in too, uploading a video onto Instagram after being nominated by Cheryl.

He is seen surrounded by a group of females who all soak him in icy water.

Payne nominated his girlfriend Sophia Smith, Pharrell Williams, John C. Reilly and Will Ferrell to also do the challenge.
