One Direction's new album has hit No.1 on iTunes charts across the globe.

As previously reported, the boyband confirmed on Monday (September 8) that they will be releasing 'FOUR' on November 17.

It has now been made available to pre-order and fans have flocked in droves to snap up the record.

At the time of writing, 'FOUR' is sitting pretty at the top of iTunes albums charts in countries like the UK, the US, Brazil and Australia.

It has been reported that the record is No.1 in over 50 countries.

The album marks the follow-up to 2013's chart-topping 'Midnight Memories'.

One Direction meanwhile released the new track 'Fireproof' as a 24-hour free download on Monday via their official website.
