One Direction's Liam Payne: 'I feel bad for turning down photos, but I've got to be a man'

Singer Liam Payne, of One Direction fame, has opened up about being in the public eye and trying to keep people happy in a new interview with Cosmopolitan magazine.

He explained that while he wants to make himself as accessible as possible to his band's fans, there are days where he simply doesn't want to pose for pictures and it's hard to say no because he knows that he's letting them down:

"You know what, I get the fans' point of view, but sometimes you just don't want a picture. It's one of those things. And you do feel bad about it most of the time but you know, you've got to live your life and be a man."

In the same interview, he also confessed that it's liberating to be able to go undercover now and again because his privacy and ability to retain some kind of normality is important:

"I actually really like being undercover. Not under covers, although that does make me happy too. But, like, when I was in [New York toy store] FAO Schwarz and literally no one came up to me; I was just walking around with everyone completely unaware."
