One Direction say 'Steal My Girl' is a 'feel-good' track

One Direction have offered more details about their next single.

The band are due to release the track 'Steal My Girl' as the first official single from upcoming album 'FOUR' on October 12.

Speaking to MTV at the weekend, the British-Irish group said that the tune follows on nicely from their last album 'Midnight Memories'.

Louis Tomlinson said: "It’s quite a feel-good song and it’s not too far away from the last album. I think it's a good bridge record."

Speaking more generally meanwhile, bandmate Zayn Malik said: "I think the main progression is the fact that we are writing more on the songs and we just wanted to make the lyric a little bit more mature. And just fit what our personal experiences were right now so that's how we kind of progressed the album right now."

Tomlinson added: “We did a lot of writing on the road and we had 2 1/2 months off at the start of the year and we did a bit of writing then. We write about girls and love like a lot of people and having a good time really, it’s as simple as that."
