One Direction's latest movie has broken a box office record.

The boyband showed their Where We Are concert film in cinemas across the world over the weekend of October 11 and 12.

The movie was promoted in conjunction with Arts Alliance, with the film dubbed an event cinema production.

They have confirmed that the movie took in $15m (£9.38m) across the world over the weekend.

This means that it is the best performing event cinema flick ever.

1.2 million tickets were sold for the movie, with showings in North America and UK especially popular.

The film saw One Direction perform in Milan earlier this year, with interview footage included.
