One Direction will go head-to-head with 5 Seconds of Summer for the Worldwide Act EMA.

MTV are hosting their annual ceremony at Glasgow's Hydro arena on November 9 and in the last number of weeks fans have been voting for their favourite act in different regions around the globe.

One Direction won the UK and Ireland section and will represent North Europe whilst 5 Seconds of Summer reigned in the Australia vote.

286 music acts have now been reduced to ten and they will vie for the Worldwide Act prize.

Fifth Harmony are representing North America, with the likes of Revolverheld (Europe Central) and Dulce Maria (Latin America) also featured.

Voting for the award is now open.
