One Direction achieve their third chart-topping UK album

One Direction have racked up their third No. 1 album with their latest release, 'Four'. 

'Four' has sold 142,000 copies in the past week and gives Harry, Zayn, Louis, Liam and Niall their third consecutive No. 1 album following on from 2013's best-selling 'Midnight Memories' and 2012's 'Take Me Home'. The group's 2011 debut 'Up All Night' peaked at No. 2.  

'Four' comfortably reached No. 1 after out-selling it's closest competitor by 90,000 copies. 

Ed Sheeran's 'X' is up one to No. 2, Sam Smith's 'In The Lonely Hour' is also up one to No. 3, 'The Endless River', last week's No. 1 from Pink Floyd, is down to No. 4, and Foo Fighters' 'Sonic Highways' is down three to No. 5.  

Other than One Direction there are a further ten new entries to this week's album chart.

Debuts within the Top Ten come from Bette Midler with 'It's The Girls' at No. 6, 'Nothing Has Changed - The Very Best of David Bowie' at No. 9, and Katherine Jenkins' 'Home Sweet Home' at No. 10. 

Elsewhere in the chart Nickelback are new in at No. 12 with 'No Fixed Address', Alfie Boe debuts at No. 14 with 'Seranata', Bryan Ferry sits at No. 19 with 'Avonmore', Daniel O’Donnell’s live album 'Stand Beside Me' is just behind at No. 20, Michael Ball's 'If Everyone Was Listening' follows at No. 21, Luther Vandross' 'Greatest Hits' is at No. 22 and Dame Shirley Bassey has reached No. 24 with 'Hello Like Before'.
