Harry Styles in running for NME's Villain of the Year award

One Direction star Harry Styles has been nominated for the Villain of the Year honour at this year's NME Awards.

The music magazine's awards bash is due to take place on February 18 at London's Brixton O2 Academy and the 'Night Changes' star is up for the dubious prize.

The category - which is generally taken with a pinch of salt - also sees US star Taylor Swift nominated.

Politicians David Cameron and Nigel Farage, as well as Russell Brand and Bono, are also up for the prize.

Styles won the Villain award in 2014 and 2013 whilst his group also won the Worst Band honour in the latter year too.
