One Direction made $282m in ticket sales in 2014

One Direction reportedly made nearly $300m (£193m) in ticket sales last year.

The boyband took their Where We Are world stadium tour out on the road for a number of dates, with 5 Seconds of Summer supporting at many of the shows.

Pollstar have revealed that the group raked in a gross total of $282m (£181m) in ticket sales over 69 concerts.

This makes them the highest grossing touring act of 2014.

The run came in support of 2013 record 'Midnight Memories'.

Justin Timberlake is second on the ticket sales list with a total of $184.7m (£119m).
