One Direction star Niall Horan has lavished praise on James Bay.

The rising singer-songwriter has won this year's Critics' Choice Brit award and it seems he has caught Horan's attention.

The Irishman wrote on Twitter today (February 24):

"Hands down one of my favourite artists in a very long time ! Love his work! Would love to see a show ! @JamesBayMusic."

Bay responded: "Cheers Niall, glad you're liking the tunes man."

The musician is due to collect his Brit award at the ceremony at London's O2 Arena on Wednesday (February 25).

One Direction are nominated for the British Group gong at the awards.
