Zayn Malik: 'It's not real to me'

Zayn Malik says his former One Direction bandmates have supported his decision to leave the group.

The singer quit the hitmakers earlier this week to spend time out of the spotlight.

Speaking in his first interview since the news broke, Malik said that his four former bandmates are behind his choice.

He told The Sun: "It's been really good for me, because I feel it's been a bit different to when other bands have broken up or when a member's left or whatever.

"My band has been really supportive. They've been really cool about it. And they understand that, you know, it's not real to me anymore."

Speaking about One Direction going forward, Malik added: "They still want to do it for a while, so they're going to carry on doing what they want to do and I think they're going to do ok for a while."

The singer said that his fiancee Perrie Edwards has supported him through the tough time, adding:

"Yeah, she's always supportive. She's always good, man."
