Zayn Malik breaks Twitter silence after leaving 1D

Zayn Malik has spoken on Twitter for the first time since leaving One Direction.

The Brit quit the group last month in order to live a more normal life.

His Twitter account - which has nearly 15 million followers - was left silent as he dealt with leaving the boyband.

However, today (April 20) Malik updated his account with words of thanks for those close to him.

The singer said: "Wanna say thanks to everyone that's been there for me over the last few weeks, love you all.. you know who you are x.

"The x is a kiss by the way ha it's not a mystery...sorry to any confused..."

Malik's last full tweet, left on March 18, addressed rumours of cheating after being pictured holding hands with a woman.

He said: "I'm 22 years old...I love a girl named Perrie Edwards. And there's a lot of jealous fucks in this world I'm sorry for what it looks like x."
