One Direction have opened about Zayn Malik quitting the band in their first TV interview as a four-piece.

The lads appeared on James Corden's Late Late Show last night (May 14).

The Brit approached the subject of Malik, who left the band in March to live a more normal life.

Speaking about the singer quitting, Liam Payne said:

"There are certain parts of the job Zayn loved and certain parts that he didn't. If you don't like your job you've got to follow your heart sometimes."

He added that he initially felt "angry" before his feelings turned to "disappointment" as he began to understand Malik's decision.

Louis Tomlinson meanwhile added that things are "resolved" between him and Malik after a recent Twitter spat.
