One Direction on new album: 'It's a good bit different'

One Direction star Niall Horan reckons the band's next album will be a bit "different" than their back catalogue.

The group are currently working on the follow-up to 2014's 'FOUR'.

Speaking to Billboard on the red carpet of their Music Awards on Sunday (May 17), the quartet were asked about the sound of their new album.

Horan said: "We're working on it at the moment. It's a good bit different than what we've done before, but not too wild."

When Louis Tomlinson asked how it was different, the Irishman quipped: "It's a little bit more...funkier beats."

The next album meanwhile will be the first One Direction album to not feature Zayn Malik, who left the group in March.
