One Direction tease 'funky beats' for next studio album

Boyband One Direction were at last night's Billboard Music Awards ceremony in Las Vegas and teased that their new album will showcase some 'funky beats'.

Speaking to the press on the red carpet, the heartthrobs explained that their next record will be different from their previous releases and they're showing off a new sound. Niall Horan said: "We're working on it at the moment. It's a good bit different than what we've done before but not too wild. Just a little bit more funkier beats, 'cause I'm at one with the music."

The hitmakers also shared what they were listening to before the ceremony and Horan admitted to jamming out to Nick Jonas' 'Jealous': 'I was listening to 'Jealous', yeah... Nick Jonas!" Harry Styles added: "That Walk The Moon song ('Dance With Me') is great, yeah."

1D picked up the Top Duo/Group and Top Touring Act gongs at the BBMAs and Liam Payne dedicated their wins to their 'brother' Zayn Malik, who recently quit the band: "I just want to say, Billboard, you guys have been so amazing throughout our career, thank you for the support and as well as our fans, there's one more person to share this with and that's our brother Zayn, so thank you very much."
