One Direction star Louis Tomlinson says the band are having "too much fun" to think about breaking up.

The future of the group was shrouded in doubt in March when singer Zayn Malik left for pastures new.

However, the British-Irish boyband confirmed plans to continue as a quartet and release a new album.

Speaking at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday (May 17), Tomlinson told People that the future is bright for One Direction.

He said: "We’re not breaking up. We’re having too much fun.

"We’re making our record at the minute, we’re going on more tours, we’re coming out to the states in July - we’re looking forward to it, it’s all good."

Liam Payne meanwhile added that Malik's departure is a "difficult thing to talk about".

However, he said that "we’re all good with him and he’s good with us".
