One Direction say they are not planning to replace Zayn Malik

Simon Cowell has confirmed that there are no plans to replace Zayn Malik in One Direction.

The singer quit the group in March in order to spent more time out of the boyband spotlight.

The band have said they will continue as a quartet, with a new album mooted for later in the year.

Label boss Simon Cowell - who helped piece the band together on the X Factor in 2010 - told Good Morning Britain that there are no plans to replace Malik.

He added that the group are "doing fine" after the initial shock.

One Direction meanwhile will bring their On The Road Again tour to Cardiff in June before returning to the UK for arena gigs in the autumn.
