One Direction star on Zayn: 'We all miss having one of our best mates around'

One Direction star Niall Horan admits that the group miss having "best friend" Zayn Malik on tour with them.

The singer left the band in March to live a more normal life.

The pop group have continued as a four piece and a new album is in the pipeline.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Horan said that whilst they miss Malik's presence, they are still having a ball on the road.

The Irishman said: "We all miss having one of our best mates around, obviously.

"We're still going onstage every night and having the best time of our lives with our incredible fans, so from that point of view, nothing has changed."

Speaking about One Direction's upcoming North America tour, Horan added:

"We have a few surprises. Most importantly, we will be rehearsing new songs which we are very excited to perform live for the first time."
