One Direction will perform at Good Morning America's Summer Concert Series.

The British-Irish boyband will take to the stage for the US TV show on August 4.

The event is taking place at Rumsey Playfield in New York City's Central Park.

Entry to the concert is free and fans will be able to apply for tickets.

The news comes on the same day (July 31) that One Direction released a surprise new single.

The group treated fans with the tune 'Drag Me Down' - the first piece of music released without former member Zayn Malik.

The shock track is the first song to be taken from One Direction's upcoming fifth album.
