Zayn Malik and Justin Bieber congratulate One Direction on new single

Boyband One Direction surprised the world earlier this week by launching a surprise single called 'Drag Me Down'.

The track, which had no prior promotion, has gone on to become their most successful global single launch after securing the No.1 position on the iTunes chart in 82 countries

On Friday (July 31), 'Drag Me Down' was the top worldwide Twitter trend for over ten hours, with 22k tweets per minute being sent and over 3.2 million tweets shared by 3pm.

Former 1D member Zayn Malik, who recently signed a lucrative solo deal with RCA, took to his official Twitter page over the weekend to congratulate the lads on the cut: "Proud of my boys the new single is sick. Big love. :) x."

Canadian sensation Justin Bieber also acknowledged the single and tweeted to Niall Horan, writing: "@NiallOfficial congrats on the new single bro."

One Direction, meanwhile, recently confirmed that they will appear on 'Good Morning America' later next week. The hitmakers will take to the stage for the U.S. TV show on August 4 and it will be held at Rumsey Playfield in New York City's Central Park.
