One Direction on recovering from Zayn split: 'It was a different dynamic at first'

One Direction star Louis Tomlinson has opened up on the journey the band have gone through since Zayn Malik left in March.

The singer called time on the group in order to spend more time out of the boyband limelight.

Speaking to Key 103, Tomlinson said that going down to a quartet initially altered the "dynamic" of One Direction.

However, the band - who recently released the surprise single 'Drag Me Down' - have coped well.

The singer said: "Don't get me wrong it was a different dynamic at first and I think that's just another challenge and another adjustment that we've had to make.

"I think we've done that and I think we've proved that with this single. We always made a habit of sharing out the vocals anyway so we just said to ourselves we've got to make this work and I think we did."

One Direction's fifth album meanwhile is expected to be released later this year.
