One Direction on 'Drag Me Down': '5 years on and we're better than ever'

Boyband One Direction surprised fans at the end of last month by unveiling a brand new single called 'Drag Me Down' and it has brought them their most success yet.

The track broke an impressive Spotify record after it was streamed a phenomenal 4.75 million times globally on Friday, July 31 - beating the milestone that had been previously set by Wiz Khalifa with his track 'See You Again,' which was streamed 4.26 million times on April 17.

Irish heartthrob Niall Horan told BBC Radio 1 this morning that considering they're five years into their collective career as a band, peaking now is unbelievable and they're so grateful to their amazing fans for continuing to support their music:

"When we dropped the single we didn't really realise that was the reaction it was going to get. You bring out music and never know what it's [the reaction] going to be like, so to do it five years down the line and to have your most successful single now is pretty good."
