One Direction's 'Four' has been certified double Platinum

Boyband One Direction are celebrating yet another achievement today as their 2014 album 'Four' has now been certified double Platinum.

The British Phonographic Industry shared the great news this afternoon (September 18) and Platinum certification means that an album has sold 300,000, so their sales have now passed the 600,000 mark. Tweeting about the group's milestone, the BPI posted:

"*BIG news* @OneDirection’s album ‘Four’ has now gone 2x Platinum. Huge congrats! #bpiAwards."

'Four' was Zayn Malik's last album with One Direction as he quit the band back in March and is now pursuing a solo career. One Direction will go on hiatus next year and member Liam Payne recently expressed an interest in writing songs for his bandmates:

"I have written country songs. I started out doing rap songs. That's where my mind is set. A lot of people say to me, 'Oh, you'll go solo', but I haven't thought about that. If the right song comes along and I think I should sing it, then I will release it as a solo artist. Otherwise, I'm happy being behind the scenes. When the other boys go solo I would love to write songs for them. I want to make great music that people want to listen to."
