Everything we know about One Direction's new album so far

Earlier this afternoon, boyband One Direction confirmed that their forthcoming new studio album is called 'Made In The A.M.' and it will be released on November 13.

While information about the highly anticipated new offering is currently limited, we can take a look back at previous interviews with 1D, songwriter Jamie Scott, producer Julian Bunetta, and Simon Cowell to round up everything they have told us about this new record so far.

Back in April, member Liam Payne told Capital FM that he and rest of the 1D lads want this album to have a timeless sound: "The songs have been coming out a bit more chilled. We want this to be quite a long-lasting album that you can listen to anytime, like Ed [Sheeran]’s album. The new album is a bit Oasis-y."

Heartthrobs Payne and bandmate Niall Horan spent part of April in the woods working on songs with writer Jamie Scott (pictured below), and their producer Julian Bunetta recently told Billboard that the themes of the lads' new tracks are more mature:

"There's a song about losing someone that isn't Zayn. There's also a song about the band being on shaky ground and not knowing what the future is. There are songs about love, there's a song that is a little more sexually charged. It's all over the map."

Referring to the direction of the sound, Bunetta added: "Just strings and horns. We’re stretching out outside of the perimeters of what a traditional pop boy band would do. We’re just kind of having fun. No rules. That’s what it’s been. We just wanted to make an album that had influences of all the previous albums, but then, an evolved version."

Music mogul Simon Cowell, who put One Direction together after they all auditioned as solo singers on 'The X Factor' back in 2010, also admitted to James Corden this spring that he has heard the new record in its earliest form and thinks it will blow everyone away: "I have a feeling they are going to deliver this year the best record they've ever made. I've heard some of the early stuff. So I'm feeling good."
