1D apologise for cancelled concert: 'These things happen'

One Direction have apologised to their fans after they called off a live show at the last minute.

The band had been due to play in Belfast at the Odyssey Arena last night (October 20).

At 9pm an announcement was made that the show had been cancelled due to one member of the band falling ill.

A representative for concert promoter Aiken PR came out on stage to deliver the news, telling the crowd: “The show tonight has been cancelled as Liam has taken ill, and whilst not serious, he is unable to perform tonight.”

Fans have been told to keep hold of their tickets and await further news.

One Direction are expected to release a statement later today concerning the further shows they are booked to play in Belfast tonight (October 21) and tomorrow (October 22).

Following the disappointment, members of the band took to social media to comfort disappointed fans.

Harry Styles tweeted: “Deepest apologies to everyone at the show tonight in Belfast. Very disappointed, but unfortunately these things happen. We're very sorry.”

Similarly, Louis Tomlinson wrote: “We're so so sorry for what happened tonight, it was out of our control! Lots of love to Liam and thank you for being so understanding!"

Niall Horan said: “So sorry we have had to cancel tonight guys. Unfortunately these things happen… Thank you to all who came down tonight!”

Liam Payne is yet to comment on the cancellation.

Soon after the no-show, One Direction released the music video for their latest single, ‘Perfect’, online.
