One Direction have beaten the U.S. chart record held by The Beatles

Heartthrobs One Direction have beaten a chart record set by iconic British band, the Beatles.

'Perfect' marks the lads' fifth top 10 debut on Billboard's Hot 100, and second from the band's forthcoming new album 'Made in the A.M.' as 'Drag Me Down' debuted and peaked at No.3 upon its arrival late this summer.

With this fifth chart Top 10 debut, One Direction have broken the record for the most Top 10 Hot 100 debuts among groups, passing the Beatles' four. Billboard reports that 1D debuted at No.3 on the Hot 100 with 'Live While We're Young' on October 20, 2012, 'Best Song Ever' charted at No.2 on August 10, 2013, and 'Story of My Life' debuted at No.6 on November 16, 2013.

The hitmakers, meanwhie, have been confirmed to perform at this year's American Music Awards and they will take to the stage at Los Angeles' Microsoft Theater on November 21. They're also up for two prizes at this year's awards - Artist of the Year and Favourite Duo or Group – Pop Rock.
