One Direction to play first Radio 1 Live Lounge session

One Direction will perform their first BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge show this week.

The pop group will play live for the radio station on Thursday (November 12) from 5pm.

The news was confirmed during the BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards on Sunday (November 8), which saw One Direction win twice.

DJ Greg James posted online: "HUGE NEWS! Not only did they just win this, but I just announced that @onedirection will be doing their first EVER Live Lounge.

"And it’s on my show - THIS Thursday at 5pm."

The slot will come ahead of the release of One Direction's fifth album 'Made in the A.M.' on November 13.

The band will follow it with an appearance on BBC Radio 1's Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw on November 16.

Despite the new record, One Direction will take a prolonged break in 2016 to focus on solo endeavours.

Singer Liam Payne recently revealed he will be going into music publishing, collaborating and songwriting - and he's happy to do it alongside bandmate Louis Tomlinson.
