1D downplay Bieber chart battle: 'There's no fighting'

One Direction have dismissed suggested there is a chart battle currently taking place between the band and Justin Bieber.

The group unleashed their fifth effort 'Made in the A.M.' on Friday (November 13).

However, Canadian Bieber also released his latest album 'Purpose' on the same day.

This has created talk of a chart battle - but One Direction's Niall Horan told Digital Spy there is no rivalry.

He said: "It's happened to us before. We've released albums on the same day as Rihanna and stuff like that, but it just happens to be - on the internet - made into a big deal that it's Bieber.

"But it's fine - he's got good tunes, we've got good tunes, and we don't really see it as who's going to win.

"If anything it's good for pop culture that something like this is going to happen. There's no fighting involved at all."

Bieber meanwhile is currently No.1 on the US and UK iTunes charts, with One Direction second.
