One Direction star has responded coyly when asked if the band's track 'Perfect' is about Taylor Swift.

The song features on the band's newly released fifth album 'Made in the A.M.'.

It features the lyric: "If you're looking for someone to write your breakup songs about, baby, I'm perfect."

Many have speculated that the tune is about Harry Styles' ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift.

When asked about the meaning behind the track by Entertainment Tonight, the One Direction man said:

"Obviously, you write a lot of stuff from personal experience, but it doesn't necessarily have to be so literal.

"People can interpret a lot of different things in different ways. And I'm not going to tell someone it's not about what they think it's about, because I think the whole point is - it's about whatever it means to you."

'Made in the A.M.' meanwhile is due to top the UK albums chart this weekend.

Howevever, it is set to hit No.2 in the US behind Justin Bieber's new entry 'Purpose'.
