One Direction are currently topping the MTV Stars poll ahead of the winner being revealed.

The UK music television company are asking fans to tweet for their favourite act of 2015.

One Direction are currently top of the list with around 115 million tweets.

In second place is Lady Gaga with nearly 112 million votes, while Lana Del Rey is third with around seven million less tweets.

Other acts in contention include Britney Spears and Nicki Minaj.

The placings will be secret today (December 14) ahead of the poll closing on Tuesday (December 15).

The winner will be revealed on December 19.
