Generous One Direction fans have raised over $25,000 (£16,800) for charity in honour of Louis Tomlinson's birthday.

The singer will become 24 on December 24 and fans wanted to celebrate the milestone in style.

An online fundraising page was set up in honour of the birthday to generate cash for the Eden Dora Trust, which counts Tomlinson as a patron.

It hoped to raise $24,000 (£16,100) by his birthday, but the target was smashed some ten days before his big day.

The fundraising page wrote: "Louis Tomlinson has done so much for fans and The Eden Dora Trust so we, the fans, would like to give back."
