One Direction are set to feature in an upcoming episode of Family Guy.

The band will star in a scene involving a camp fire and character Stewie Griffin.

Executive producers of the animated comedy series Richard Appel and Steve Callaghan confirmed the news to Entertainment Weekly.

The episode is set to air in May, with reports suggesting only Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson have provided lines.

The producer pair said: "There are not a lot of shows that, in the same season, feature guest-star appearances by both Frank Sinatra, Jr. and One Direction.

"And we really enjoyed their time with us, until we realised we were both old enough to be their fathers."

One Direction meanwhile are now on a prolonged hiatus following the release of five albums in five years.
