One Direction singer Niall Horan has paid tribute to his fans on the sixth anniversary of his X Factor audition.

The singer originally took part in the TV talent show in 2010 as a solo contestant.

However, he was ultimately pieced together with four other singers to create One Direction.

Speaking on Twitter today (April 15), the Irishman thanked his fans for sticking by him.

Horan said: "Wow. Hard to believe that my audition was 6 years ago.

"Did a lot of growing up since then. Thanks for everything so far. Love ya."

The singer is currently enjoying some time off from music as One Direction take a break in 2016.
