One Direction singers Niall Horan and Liam Payne have reached out the band's fans after the group won another award.

The hitmakers bagged the Top Duo/Group prize at Sunday's (May 22) Billboard Music Awards.

This is despite the band going on hiatus at the end of 2015.

Horan took to Twitter to thank the band's fans for sticking by them, writing:

"Lovellyyyyy! Thanks guys for the award @BBMAs. The support you keep giving us while we're on the break is incredible, keep it up. Love ya."

Payne meanwhile joked that he doesn't know why One Direction are still winning awards.

He said: "Wow. Wow wow thanks so much everyone for the billboard award I don't understand how we even win stuff anymore."

The singer then retweeted a fan who replied: "Why do you think we're the greatest team the world has ever seen? We'll always be here Liam, we're not gonna leave."
