One Direction were greeted by a swarm of female fans as they touched down at Los Angeles' LAX airport earlier this week.

The lads are in the U.S. to film a cameo appearance on the popular teen sitcom iCarly and were met by hundreds of excited fans as they got off the plane in California.

They were so shocked by the incredible reception that they took to social networking site Twitter to talk about the experience.

Harry Styles wrote, "Sorry that we couldn't stop at LAX guys...the US Marshall's said it wasn't safe. We all wanted to come see you .x."
