One Direction claim second album will be 'grungier'One Direction have claimed they plan to change their sound for album number two by going 'grungier.' The 2010 X-Factor finalists, whose current single, ‘One Thing,’ climbed the UK charts to number nine yesterday, also revealed they would like to collaborate with Ed Sheeran again on the follow-up to ‘Up All Night.’ Oldest member Louis Tomlinson told the Daily Star: "We want to take the next album into a different zone - more guitars and grungier. Bandmate Liam Payne also confessed that they have already approached Sheeran, who co-penned ‘Moments’ from the Limited Yearbook edition of their debut, to work on the record: "Ed is such a talented guy. We spoke to him about helping again for the next album which we want to actually write with him this time. The five-piece are currently making waves Stateside, with their first single, ‘What Makes You Beautiful,’ entering the iTunes Top 10 there last week, just ahead of their support slot on Big Time Rush's US tour.
