One Direction add 20 more dates to arena tour

One Direction have added an extra 20 shows to their 2013 UK & Ireland arena tour after its original dates sold out within minutes.

The boyband had initially announced 15 gigs for next Spring earlier this week, but following the overwhelming demand for tickets, will now play more than twice as many shows, including matinee performances in London, Manchester, Cardiff and Birmingham.

The X-Factor finalists, whose chart-topping hit, ‘What Makes You Beautiful,’ won Best British Single at Tuesday’s BRIT Awards, revealed the news on Twitter where many of their fans had earlier expressed their disappointment over failing to secure tickets.

The extra list of dates is as follows:

February 23 - London, O2 Arena (matinée)
February 24 - London, O2 Arena (matinée)
February 27 - Glasgow, SECC
March 2 - Cardiff, Motorpoint Arena (matinée)
March 3 - Cardiff, Motorpoint Arena (matinée)
