One Direction have offered a glimpse in to a day in the life of the teen heartthrob band.

The former X Factor contestants let Billboard follow them around with a camera on March 13 as they geared up for another day of glitz, glamour and girls in the US.

The photos, taken by Diana Levine, see the band begin their day backstage at a shopping centre in New York in the late afternoon.

The quintet then go through the rigours of the press before signing autographs for happy fans.

The photos highlight the eagerness of some of the band's fans, who form a not so orderly mass outside the mall in preparation for the band leaving.
