One Direction's Louis Tomlinson admits he wanted to enter X Factor as a group
One Direction star Louis Tomlinson has admitted that he initially wanted to audition for X Factor in a group.
The boyband was formed on the show after the judges decided five solo contestants - Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson - might be better off in a group.
They didn't win the competition - but ended up with global success and a No.1 album in America.
Speaking to VEVO, Tomlinson admitted that he had sent out a few messages online to see if anyone had wanted to audition for X Factor together as a group - but no-one got back to him. He said:
"The reason that pushed me to go for the X Factor was because I decided to go for my school musical, which was Grease, and actually I got the part of Danny Zuko. Right at the start, before I auditioned for the X Factor, I actually put a few posts out on some really small forums saying 'I really want to go in a group this year', because I heard the success rate was higher in a group - but no-one got back to me."
