One Direction were greeted with a mob of amorous fans as they returned home to the UK.

The boys have enjoyed a hugely successful trip to America, Australia and New Zealand, returning back to Britain as a truly global sensation.

They were greeted as heroes at Heathrow Airport by a mass of fans happy to see their globetrotting idols.

One Direction star Niall Horan meanwhile had announced on Twitter that he had a bout of food poisoning pre-flight.

Things didn't seem to be much better for the Irishman either as he lamented his return to British weather, tweeting this morning (April 25): 

"Whats with the krappy weather! #rainsnotfunny"

Luckily for Horan and his weather displeasure, the boys will be heading back to the US in late May as they begin their next North American tour.
