ONE DIRECTION SELL 2 MILLION COPIES OF THEIR DEBUT SINGLE IN USA

The incredible stateside success of One Direction continues this week with the announcement that their debut single ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ has passed 2 million digital sales and been certified double platinum. They registered 146,405 sales this week bringing the total sales in the US to 2,060,303. Since its release in February the single has peaked at No.4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was recently featured on an episode of Glee.

To date One Direction’s debut album ‘Up All Night’ has sold in excess of 600,000 copies in the USA, with 40,188 sales this week. In the process they became the first ever UK band to debut at No. 1 on the US Billboard Chart with their first album. They’ve performed live and appeared on the likes of The Today Show, Saturday Night Live and the 2012 Kids Choice Awards. Additionally, the band have so far registered over 300,000 US downloads of their second US single ‘One Thing’.

One Direction are currently writing and recording their forthcoming second album.
