One Direction have suggested that US tour support Olly Murs could be an "older brother" type figure out on the road.

Murs is teaming up with One Direction for a number of US tour dates as the quintet head out on a headline jaunt.

Speaking to Yahoo UK, One Direction's Zayn Malik expressed his joy at Murs being part of the tour and suggested that his age will mean he will be like an "older brother". He said:

"We've met him a few times, he's a really cool guy and we're looking forward to getting on the road. It'll be cool to have an older guy with us hopefully. A bit like an older brother kind of role."

Malik meanwhile added that Murs won't be immune from the pranks and japery of tour life. He said:

"He should be worried about the pranks cos there are gonna be plenty of them."
