One Direction's Harry Styles has taken to Twitter to send "love, thoughts and prayers" to Gary Barlow following the tragic loss of his baby.

The Take That star released a statement earlier today (August 6) that revealed his daughter Poppy was delivered stillborn just a couple of days ago and the 'One Thing' heartthrob publicly offered his condolences to him, writing:

"My Love, thoughts and prayers are with @GBarlowOfficial and his family at such a difficult time.. .xx"

Yesterday, Styles shared a photograph of Barlow's book 'My Take' with his 5.8 million followers on the social networking site and accompanied the shot with the caption: "Look what someone just gave me as a present.."

Other stars have shown their support for Barlow during this difficult time including the Military Wives, Andrew Lloyd Webber and boyband JLS, who tweeted:

"We send our condolences to @GBarlowOfficial and his family during this tough time..our thoughts and prayers with you..Marv and the boys x"
