One Direction star Liam Payne has confirmed that he has broken up with his girlfriend Danielle Peazer.

It had been reported in tabloid press recently that the singer had split up with his long-term dancer girlfriend, but no official statement was forthcoming.

In a world exclusive interview with The Sun published today (October 2), Payne said that he hopes he and Peazer will remain on good terms. He said:

"Danielle is great. I really hope we can still be friends. I bought her a car for her birthday, but she really isn't that fussed by money or fame."

Payne also denied rumours that he was now dating Leona Lewis, but he did confirm that he went out for a drink with the former X Factor winner.
