One Direction singer Liam Payne has revealed his sadness over his recent relationship breakup.

The former X Factor contestant was one of three members of the pop group who had girlfriends, but his recent split with Danielle Peazer has reduced that number to two.

Speaking in the new issue of Seventeen magazine, Payne admitted his "devastation" over the split but stated that they had a good time as boyfriend and girlfriend. He said:

"I am really devastated by the breakup with Danielle. We had an amazing time together, but unfortunately sometimes things don't go as you planned."

Payne also spoke about how boxing helped him overcome some self-confidence issues as a youth, adding:

"I was bullied by a few people who were much older than me. I went to camp to learn boxing. I was 12, and my coach was 24. I felt like if I could fight him, I could stand up to anyone."
