One Direction star Niall Horan has admitted that Demi Lovato regularly keeps in touch with him.

The pop pair have long been romantically linked together but both camps have publicly denied any involvement with each other.

However, they have confirmed that they are friends and Horan has told Now magazine that they regularly talk to each other and that they often meet up in America, including in September after the MTV VMAs. He said:

"What actually happened was that I always used to say in my interviews that I liked her and she also said she liked me. We got in contact through Twitter and we just started chatting and became friends."

The 'One Thing' singer continued: "Demi's one of the nicest girls I know. She's super-cool. She always texts me to see how I am. But nothing ever really happened. When I've been in LA and had a few hours to myself, I've seen her a couple of times. We did go for a bit of dinner after the MTV Video Music Awards."

When asked if they have kissed, Horan replied: "No, no - I wish!"
